10 Best Zombie Games on Android in 2018

There’s a lot of this fixation for killing zombies in games going around. If you search the Google Play Store for zombie games, you will find A LOT of them. Zombie games in Android have probably been around since games in smartphones became a thing.
Burn them with fire, shoot them with guns, shoot them with heavy artillery from a plane, run them over with a car, or just smash them with your fingers – you will find that if you could kill a zombie in whatever way, it’s all available on Android.

Shoot those undead, survive longer in the game.
I understand that there is a measure of satisfaction you get when you fire a shotgun into the face of a zombie – even if it’s just in your smartphone. If you could shoot guns at something, why not zombies? Faultless logic.

So here’s a list of the 10 best Android zombie games you can find on the Play Store, some of them free-to-play zombie games, which you should be able to download and enjoy immediately.
Some of these games are premium ones, but don’t worry. If you’re paying for it, there’s a lot of reason to expect that the game will be worth the money you’re spending.
Guns at the ready, bring on the undead.

Best Android Zombie Games

  1. Into the Dead 2

Survive the apocalypse with Into the Dead 2.
This zombie game is the sequel to Into the Dead, one of the more popular zombie games in Android. The first zombie game made by PIKPOK went on to get over 70 million downloads.
This is quite an achievement in the Play Store which is filled with zombie shooter games. So
Into the Dead 2 has some pedigree behind it, and it doesn’t disappoint.

    So much zombie shooting action!
Into the Dead 2 boasts of updated graphics and a survival gameplay that should capture your imagination – and a bulk of your free time. The game features better weapons, which is always a good thing in a zombie game.
Fancy a companion dog so that the zombie apocalypse won’t be as boring? Yes, the game has that too. At the moment, the game will give you 7 chapters worth of playing time, and a lot challenges within the game, so the only question is how long you will survive.
Into the Dead 2 is free to download, but it will have the requisite in-app purchases for monetization. You can download Into the Dead 2 via the Google Play Store:

  2. Dead Effect 2

Dead Effect 2 brings you sci-fi zombie gaming action.
If you’re looking to just shoot zombies and the undead in general, then Dead Effect 2 might be the zombie shooter you’re looking for. The zombies have spilled into outer space, and this zombie shooting game is an exciting mix of horror and sci-fi in one game.
This game by Badfly Interactive builds on the sci-fi/zombie combo in the first Dead Effect game. Now this sequel will bring players back into the spaceship ESS Meridian filled with – you guessed it – zombies and other monsters.

Not just zombies, but so much more to kill in Dead Effect 2.
As an FPS (first person shooter), you will be happy that this game has better controls than the first game, and better graphics to boot. You get a great range of weapons you can use to mow down these zombies, including a katana blade that looks absolutely awesome and kick-ass.
You can download Dead Effect 2 for free, but be prepared for in-app purchases. Check out the game via the Google Play Store:
  3. Stupid Zombies 3

Stupid Zombies 3 requires a lot of strategy and very few bullets.
One can get tired with the zombie shooter gameplay, unless you have the guts to innovate on it, like what GameResort did with their Stupid Zombies franchise. Stupid Zombies 3 is a zombie shooter, of sorts.
The innovation in Stupid Zombie 3 is with the novel side-scrolling gameplay and that you don’t have a lot of bullets to spare to shoot up these zombies The gameplay is mostly of a puzzle game than a shooting game. You will go through levels which are essentially side-scrolling rooms that have zombies as obstacles.

Ricochet your way to survival in Stupid Zombies 3.
You can shoot these baddies, but you need to be able to reach the other side of the room using only a few bullets. Good thing that these bullets ricochet around, and you can plan the ricochets so that they hit the optimum amount of zombies blocking your way.
It already sounds challenging and fun, right? You need to utilize some mad geometry skills to be able to beat this game. Stupid Zombies 3 is free to download, with IAPs. Download the game via the Google Play Store:
  4. Zombie Highway 2

Drive and survive with Zombie Highway 2
So you’re driving a car down the interstate, feeling that freedom you only feel when speeding down the highway. You expect to see people along the road at some point, but instead of people you see… zombies?!?
You realize that you have guns in your car. So the solution here is obvious – run these undead over or shoot them until they’re no longer moving. This is basically what Zombie Highway 2 is all about.

Drive fast and shoot them off your car.
Zombie Highway 2 combines the shoot-em-up gaming genre with a driving game, with zombies that try to overrun and kill you while you drive. The goal is to survive as long as possible, quite difficult with 11 types of zombies trying to get in your way.
Your arsenal includes 6 types of cars, and 18 kinds of upgradable weapons. The gameplay is simple enough – the game uses your phone’s gyro sensor for tilting.

You will always have guns to shoot those zombies.
Tilt and turn and run down the zombies, or tap to fire your weapons. Simple controls, but very enjoyable for casual gamers.
The game is downloadable for free via the Play Store, but Zombie Highway 2 has a reasonable amount of in-app purchases. Here’s the link to the game:
  5. Zombie Gunship Survival

Kill zombies from up in the air with Zombie Gunship Survival.
If you don’t like the stress of dealing with zombies up close, you can play a game where you fire at hordes of zombies from the air. Zombie Gunship Survival puts you in control of some pretty big guns on an AC-130 gunship.
Zombie Gunship Survival is basically zombie survival game mixed with a heavy dose of shoot-em-up, because there’s something very satisfying about killing undead hordes with cannons and heavy guns.

    Bring out the heavy guns.
But the game does have a real-time strategy element to it – you build up a base for military survivors of the zombie apocalypse and defend it against zombie attacks, and you also provide air artillery support for your plucky survivors who loot areas for resources to build up your base.
Zombie Gunship Survival is built in the mold of most free-to-play games – there will be a number of in-app purchases within the game if you want to get ahead and not spend a lot of time grinding. You can download the game for free at the Google Play Store:

Blow those zombies all to pieces.
  6. The Walking Dead by Telltale Games

The Walking Dead is a zombie game from the hit TV series.
If you are not familiar with the uber-popular zombie TV series The Walking Dead, I may have to ask you where you’ve lived for the past 8 years. Everybody is sure to know about the TV series, and it has spawned a number of Android games.
The most notable of these is Telltale Games’ point-and-click adventure series of the same title, and no zombie game list for Android would be complete without it.

Telltale Games has perfected the point-and-click storytelling.
Telltale Games have been the kings of the point-and-click episodic adventure games, and The Walking Dead games are now at 2 seasons with 5 episodes each.
The gameplay is pretty simple – it is story-driven, and the game queries you to make simple actions when the storyline needs a decision from the characters. The game will ask you to tap, swipe, or repeatedly tap in any number of situations, especially ones with zombies in them.

There are zombies in the game, of course.
The Walking Dead Season 1 will give you 1 episode to play for free, and the next episodes will cost usually around USD$5.00 per episode. That’s a bit expensive, but Telltale Games usually delivers on their games, and they positively do so here.
  7. Plants vs. Zombies 2

Where would we be without Plants vs. Zombies?
Electronic Arts hit the jackpot with the original Plants vs. Zombies game, such that having a smartphone at that time became synonymous with being able to play the game. But that was years back.
Electronic Arts has now released a sequel – Plants vs. Zombies 2 – improving on the same simple gameplay to give you a hit zombie strategy game.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 gives you better graphics, but has the same simple gameplay from the original game. Protect your home from zombies by positioning different types of plants on your lawn, with different capabilities that will ultimately stop these hordes of zombies.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 is bigger and better than the original.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a bit old for a 2018 zombie game list, but it still holds up because of the updates the developers have been regularly adding to the original game content.
There’s a reason why this award-winning game has gotten over 100 million downloads – the game is just that good. Simple and casual gameplay for casual zombie game fans.
Download Plants vs. Zombies for free from the Google Play Store:
  8. Death Road to Canada

Death Road to Canada guarantees you’ll never play the same game twice.
One of the best games to come out of Noodlecake Studios (and there have been a lot) is Death Road to Canada. It’s a casual game, randomly generating a new road trip each time you play the zombie game.
You travel from Florida to Canada, killing zombies along the way. But what happens each trip
is almost entirely up to you.

Survive and avoid getting eaten by hordes of 8-bit zombies.
Noodlecake Studios designed this little game with tons of replay value, easily exceeding the USD$10.00 you pay to play it. The graphics bring are 8-bit and 16-bit nostalgia, but it is the random system of characters, survivors, and situations that will totally draw you to it.
Make no mistake, the object of the game is still to survive and not get eaten by hordes of zombies along the way. But how you get from Florida to Canada is totally up to you, and should be an enjoyable ride each time.
Download this premium zombie survival game from the Google Play Store for USD$10.00:
  9. Unkilled

Unkilled may just be the ultimate zombie shooting game.
It’s no surprise that Unkilled – a relatively new zombie shooter game by MADFINGER Games – has already racked up over 10 million downloads to date. This game is highly addictive, even for an Android zombie game environment that has a lot of these zombie shooters.
The developers have really put extra effort into making Unkilled a highly playable game. In a
zombie first-person shooter (FPS), you would need a lot of guns to keep players happy.

Shoot the zombies before they kill you.
Unkilled has around over 40 different types of guns to meet your every fancy, all you need to blast these zombies to oblivion. And if you tire of shooting zombies, the game also has an online PVP mode so you can gauge your skills against other players.
Unkilled is a very polished zombie FPS game, and I’m pretty sure that you’ll keep the game installed for a good long while, because the action is quite addictive.
The game is available as a free download from the Google Play Store, with in-app purchases. Download it here:
  10. Zombie Smasher

Zombie Smasher is heck easy to learn and highly addictive.
I reserved the last place on our list for the most accessible zombie game you can probably download. That place belongs to Zombie Smasher, made by Italic Games.
This game is so light that it’s only a 4MB download from the Play Store, but those 4MBs will translate to a whole lot of fun.

Mash the zombies with your fingers, but take care of the surfer dudes.
If you need a zombie killing fix real fast, Zombie Smasher will do the job for you. It’s a light download, so you can get it off your data connection.
The gameplay is heck easy – smash the zombies with your fingers, avoid squishing the kids and surfer dudes. Pretty easy, yes?
